DeMoura | Smith Elects New Partner
DeMoura Smith LLP is proud to announce the election of our new partner, James Moynihan. Jim leads the Firm’s Probate and Fiduciary Practice Group, representing clients in estate and trust matters in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court, Superior Court and Land Court. Personal Representatives/Executors, trustees, beneficiaries, guardians, conservators, heirs and other family members engage Jim for counsel and advocacy on their most important personal matters, including will contests, probate administration, and breach of fiduciary duty claims. Jim also represents clients in real estate litigation and business disputes.
Before becoming an attorney, Jim was a self-employed carpenter. He combines the skillful precision and attention to detail acquired in the workshop and lumberyard with the lessons he learned as a small business owner to help his clients solve their legal problems effectively. Jim is an inventor too. He holds an international patent for a yard waste holding product that he designed in 2012. Clients now benefit from Jim’s inventiveness and curiosity on their cases.
He is a Colgate University graduate and earned his J.D. from Northeastern University. Jim was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2008 and joined DeMoura Smith as a senior associate in January 2019. He has been recognized in Massachusetts Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for his client work in Estate and Trust Litigation. He lives in Hamilton, Massachusetts, with his wife Jacquelyn and four children.
